Punjabi folk was introduced in early fourteenth century by Punjabi and Sikh farmers to show their emotions. They usually sang these songs during harvest seasons and also expressed their sentiments during festive seasons also. They celebrated baisakhi (popular festival of Sikh community in India) and this is when the name Bhangra was introduced to the Punjabi folk dance. Their lyrics were simply composed by the farmers and so they were easy to understand. These songs were very energetic and vigorous to hear. With these vigorous and lively beats of the songs it gave a positive energy to the music lovers.

There are many band groups who prefer making a Bhangra folk with some western effect for their popularity. Last but not the least Bhangra is enjoyed throughout the nation and its music is one of the most awaited folk worldwide.
