Gujarati Songs & Its Popularity
Gujarati songs have become the trademark of Gujarati communities. They are extremely popular not only in the Gujarat belt, but also nationwide. Unlikely other forms of Indian music, Guajarati songs & music has acquired international publicity. Raas garba, a type of folk songs have gained popularity in United States .In the festival of Navratri even abroad staying residing Indians enjoy Guajarati folk based songs. A famous city in USA is Northolt.
Navratri has become a festival celebrated by youths , children’s & adults irrespective of their community .Navratri is incomplete without Gujarati fast numbers , traditional songs like Kukada tari boli mane etc..Gujarati songs have primitive wordings, foot tapping, music that makes it popular and unique. Navratri without Gujarati songs is like Life without breathing.
Now a days, for inter school competitions annual functions, Gujarati songs are preferred. Eg Oodhani oodhu oodhu ne udi jay .Many songs are appreciated to an extent that many people have uploaded Gujarati songs in their cell phones, Many set Gujarati songs as their ring tones. Even Many Gujarati dayras having Lokgeet, Gujarati classical songs, have become popular .Even during marriage ceremonies, group of singers sing all type of Gujarati songs have also become a trend. Marriages with live Gujarati songs makes the environment royal and everyone plays garba and thus feels a part of auspicious occasion .Sometimes attending a wedding and seeing the rituals becomes boring, but with songs being sung, the ceremony becomes lively and the crowd becomes zestful.
Thus popularity does not mean its existence worldwide, but the extent to which it is enjoyed and liked.
