Dedicated Hosting
Dedicated hosting is an internet hosting type in which the hosting client leases the complete server without sharing it with anyone. The server is owned by the hosting company, but is dedicated to be used only by the leasing client. Unlike the shared hosting in which websites from different clients are hosted on a single server, by using dedicated hosting, the client gets to host his own websites on the particular server.
Dedicated hosting provides higher level of the security for the website. The server is not being shared by multiple clients, hence there are very few chances of others trying to steal or corrupt the data on website. The performance of the dedicated hosting is far better when compared to shared hosting since there are no multiple sites of multiple customer on a single server. The loading time for websites is fast in dedicated hosting.
Websites of large businesses require more security and better performance which is why most business owners prefer to have their own servers. Using dedicated servers is the best alternative to owning a server. With dedicated servers one can reduce the cost involved in purchase and maintenance of the server. Dedicated hosting is best suited for websites which require huge disk space. There are certain websites which may require hardware and application installations. For such websites, dedicated hosting is the best option. E-commerce sites and websites that receive heavy traffic perform best with dedicated hosting.
The major advantage of having dedicated servers is that all the maintenance is being done by the hosting company. Regular back-ups of the data on the website are also done by the hosting company. The web hosting company takes up the complete responsibility for maintaining the data, managing the equipments needed for hosting, performing updates etc. Dedicated hosting is quite costly when compared to the shared hosting. Hence dedicated hosting is of very little use to small websites which do not require huge space.
