Punjabi folk was introduced in early fourteenth century by Punjabi and Sikh farmers to show their emotions. They usually sang these songs during harvest seasons and also expressed their sentiments during festive seasons also. They celebrated baisakhi (popular festival of Sikh community in India) and this is when the name Bhangra was introduced to the Punjabi folk dance. Sujatha Mohan debuted in the Malayalam song industry as Baby Sujatha singing with the legendary performer K.J. Yesudas.
